She was originally qualified as a therapist in Swedish Massage, Reflexology and Indian Head Massage in 2002. Having discovered her home away from home, Esalen Institute in California in 2006, she has rekindled her passion for bodywork as a gateway to deeper understanding and healing of oneself, as a practitioner as well as a receiver. Her interest is in bringing more awareness and harmony in the way of being. Fumiyo’s Esalen Massage combines long, slow, wave-like strokes, with deep tissue techniques - inviting the body to open, and the mind to drop away. It is a deep, relaxing and profound experience. She holds a safe space for you to unfold, and find the stillness within. It is a gentle reminder that there is another possibility for your being, other than living in contraction. Those tightness and holdings in the body are given opportunities to be listened to, and they might just be let go – whether it is physical or emotional, only when you are ready. The session can be enjoyed as a more relaxing, yet as effective alternative to deep tissue massage.
